As President and General Manager of the New Westminster Senior Salmonbellies, from 2004 – 2019, the team posted an enviable record of 5 times WLA League Champions and 13 WLA playoff Appearances resulting in Mann Cup appearances in 2008 – 2010 and 2017. As General manager the Salmonbellies had a record of 248 wins, 10 ties, 154 losses. Prior to this Dan was a Mann Cup player with the Salmonbellies in 1980 and 1981, winning the Mann in the later appearance. Richardson’s record as a builder starts with a stint from 1989 – 1997 as a Coach with the Port Coquitlam Minors and then jumps to service at the Senior and Professional levels of the sport. Dan was a board member of the Senior Salmonbellies from 2000 – 2003 before accepting the Role as President and General Manager. In 2018 he became the Inaugural General manager of the NLL Vancouver Warriors, a position he occupied through 2023. Dan was recognized for his contributions to the game many times including the WLA Norm Kowalyk Award (Executive of the Year) 3x; 2008 – BCLA Hugh Gifford Award (Manager of the Year); and 2009 – BCLA Tom Gordon Plaque (BCLA Mr. Lacrosse). Dan took over the team when they were at a low on the floor with 3 years of not making the playoffs and financially struggling. He turned the organization around both on the floor and financially through marketing and innovative events including in-game entertainment, increasing connections to the community directly and by encouraging team member participation in community events and participation at kid’s camps – all while building a good product on the floor. One of the community building ideas of donations of equipment for soldiers deployed to Afghanistan and seats for soldiers and Honour House. A legacy for the famed Queens Park Arena, home box for the Bellies, was Dan’s work with the City of New Westminster on the historic teal green wooden floor that was in dire need of replacing. The result was a unique and classic look that provided both an aesthetic and physical upgrade that helped a very historic building feel new again.
