Les Gilmore played in 1912-13 with the Richmond Field Lacrosse Team before going overseas. 

Upon his return he helped reorganize the Richmond Club and played with them until 1930. 

For the next ten years, he worked at building the game in Richmond. He was president of the Inter-City Box Lacrosse Commission for three years, then became president of the Canadian Lacrosse Association for two years, after being Vice-President in 1956 and 1957. 

Les also donated a medal in memory of Jim McConaghy (Charter Inductee- Builder), a former great promoter of the game, to be awarded annually to the outstanding Junior player in the Minto Cup championship.
